Llano Christmas

This year for Christmas we went "home" to be with Mat's family in Llano. We had an excellent time visiting, eating, playing games, eating, drinking and of course, Santa was too generous with us this year as always. I want to thank Mat's mom and step dad for all of their generous hospitality.

Tara, Kerry and Mat putting together the "lego table" for Vin on behalf of Santa.

I didn't take pictures of my mother in law's tree or her house but I did take this picture of the bunk house (aka guest house) behind the big house. It looked like an adorable little Christmas cottage.

I also took pictures of these awesome bells she has hanging in one of her trees. I am adding these to my 2013 List of Wants. Yes, I've already started one. Shut up.

Texas deer in front of one of the downtown shops.

I can't go to Llano without going to my favorite Hill Country junk store : Whimsey's.

Hand holding face.

Bin of doll parts.

This black tree adorned with various pad locks was at the store next door to Whimsey's. It's called Binky La Fay and is actually the name of the owner. Her real name is Binky and when I met her I did ask.

A vampire deer at Miller's smokehouse.
This sign hangs right below the deer.

Sallie and Vin checking out the show bunnies the neighbor's daughter had for 4H.

This stove and sink belonged to my mother in law when she was a child. It's metal and not really child friendly but it's pretty awesome that she still has it and her grand kids play with it.

Kam found a brewpub and restaurant in San Saba - 30 minutes down the road from Llano. The whole family ventured out for the day.

Mat and Kevin ordered the taster tray and I was a little freaked out that they named one of their beers 'Little Girl." Ew.

Here's the whole flight. Notice that their sample holder is nothing but a long piece of wood with holes cut out and the names handwritten beneath.

Which one to try first?

This hand made twig tree was in a restaurant in Fredricksburg. It was really cool and this picture doesn't do it justice.

It's fun for me to be around kids because you see random toys and lego creations in the damnedest places.

Vin and Sallie got new boots for Christmas!

And oh look, so did I. My first pair.

I have to give a major shout out to my sister-in-law Tara. She got engaged to Kerry (the handsome man on her left) on December 27th. Mat and I are so thrilled for them both and am happy to welcome Kerry to the family!
Playing the Barbie Game at Christmas is a Mat and Kam tradition. They have their mom's old Barbie game from the 60's and Kerry was invited to play this year. Whoever wins is the reigning champion for the year and this time around it was Kam!

Reese. This is Kam and Teri's newest addition to their family.

Reese wearing Lulie's sunglasses. Lulie is Cassie's youngest daughter and you can see part of Cassie in the left hand corner.
Mat and Patty. Somehow his mom took this on her phone and although Mat will hate me for posting this, I think this picture is hysterical.
A sign hanging in my mother in law's kitchen.

When we got home we dumped all the clothes out of our suitcase. Can you spot the curious kitty?
